Exodus 20:8-11. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:But on the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.
Sabbath – Strong’s 7676 – intermission – from 7673).
The first six days of creation had an “evening and a morning” ( Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31,).
Genesis 2:1-3. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it, because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
The seventh day had no “evening and morning”. The seventh day is eternal. It is the Sabbath of the LORD God’s rest. The Roman calendar marks our time as A.D. (Anno Domini) which means the year of our Lord. For time before Jesus was born we say, B.C. (before Christ). These days the antichrist system that already rules the world marks time as B.C.E. (Before the Common Era), and C.E. (the Common Era). This is because the world system is in complete denial that Jesus Christ really came and is whom he said he is, the living God. The world today is still waiting for their Messiah, Twelfth Imam, or whatever avatar the Jews, Muslims, Hindus or Christians are looking for. They have all missed the mark. They are doing religious works whereas God has finished his work of salvation in the eternity passed and manifested it at the cross about two thousand years ago (John 19:30). When Jesus came, he came to declare the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18,19).It will continue to be the acceptable year of the Lord till God comes to “judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead (Acts 17:31).
The Sabbath day law was given so that God’s people would devote their day to the things of God, to rest, to pray, to remember the things that God has done for them. To give thanks. To be refreshed. An intermission from their daily toils and labour. To reflect on their life before the LORD. As a sign that set them apart from others (Ezek.20:12). To have time for godly fellowship.
However, it became a religious ritual. God’s people rebelled against God right from the beginning when they came out from Egypt. They turned religion into a system of control and people were in bondage to religious service, sin, and Satan because of the fear of death (read Hebrew 2:13-15; Mark 7:6-9,13).
In due time God sent his only begotten Son to fulfil all righteousness (Matt.3:15), that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Jesus said in Matthew 5:17, Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfil. He came to show the true meaning of the law. He came to show the need for mercy and not sacrifice. Matthew 5:18-20. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (the law was fulfilled in Jesus Christ).Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Luke 24:44-45. And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.
We read in Matthew 12:1-8 that Jesus is walking through a corn field on the Sabbath day. His disciples are hungry so they pick some corn for themselves to eat (Deut.23:25). The Pharisees complain, saying this is unlawful to do on the Sabbath day. How did Jesus reply? Matthew 12:6-8. But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.
Let us look at this situation:- The field is the world (Matt.13:37-39).The corn is the word of God (Deut.25:4; Matt.10:10; 1Corin.9:7-15; 1Tim.5:18).The Sabbath is for showing mercy, not sacrifice (religious service) (see John 7:19-24).
John 7:23. If a man on the Sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the Sabbath day? V.24. Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgement.
The Sabbath is for healing, showing mercy, sharing the word of God. Do you think that God intended all this to be ministered only one day a week in religious service? I think not.
Hebrew nine tells us the religious system was only a shadow of things to come. Jesus is the fulfilment of all this:- Hebrew 9:10. Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances (all religious service), imposed on them until the time of reformation.
Jesus is the reformation. His is perfect. There cannot be another one in the time of Martin Luther that pertains to God. What happened about five hundred years ago was a devilish work of religious deception by the pagan Babylonian sun worshipping system. They couldn’t get Christians into Constantine’s pagan catholic system, so they caused many other denominations to spring up and deceive people back into religious service. There were no idols and such but they brought the catechisms with them and try to convince people that if they don’t go to church on Sunday (the day of the sun god), they cannot be saved. This is religious fear tactics. Not from God.
Hebrew 9:11-15. But Christ being come an high priest, of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle (John 2:19-21), not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once (never again will there be sacrifices to God) into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh (old covenant): How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God (new covenant). And for this cause he is the mediator (only Jesus) of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance (whether Jew or Gentile).
Hebrew 8:1-2,13. Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrew nine mentions many pieces of temple equipment which are referred to as vessels of ministry. When we are born again and cleansed by the blood of sprinkling we become the vessels of ministry. We empty ourselves of worldly things and fill ourselves up by the infilling of the Holy Ghost and the word of God (see Heb.9:20-24). We no longer do religious things. We rather learn to live as God would have us live our daily lives, showing mercy, and having right fellowship with one another as often as possible, even daily.
Hebrew 3:12-14. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.
Hebrew 12:22-24. (we are not come to religion) But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
When we are born again we escape the bondage of religious service (Heb.2:14-15) and rejoice between the fear and the trembling in our daily life before the Lord (Phil.2:12-18). We do not belong to or join religious organisations, rather God has joined us to himself and we are registered in heaven. We do not build man made “churches”. They are not the house of God. They are places of assembly and the biblical word for that is “synagogue”. Church only ever means “people called out by God”, “called out ones”. The individual is the tabernacle of God. In the old testament there was a temple for his people. In the new testament there is a people for his temple, that is, the body of Christ. Please read 1Corin.3:16-17; 1Corin.6:19; 2Corin.6:16-7:1; Eph.2:21-22; Eph.5:30-32; Heb.3:6; 1Peter 2:5-10.
Acts 17:24-28. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands. Neither is worshipped with mens hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Our life is in the Lord. He is our Sabbath. He gives us rest for our souls. Jesus Christ stood in the gap between God (commandments 1-3), and man (commandments 5-10). Without Jesus, the Word, living in us by his power, the Holy Ghost, we could never love God, nor love our neighbour in a godly way. Jesus himself is commandment number four. Because of the sinful nature of man, man could never obey these commandments.
Romans 3:10-12. As it is written (Psalm 14:1-3),There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Ezekiel 22:29-30. (God says) The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy:Yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
There was no one who was without sin. There was no one who could stand in the gap. God alone had to heal the breach.
Psalm 60:1-5. O God, Thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof (the gap); for it shaketh. Thou hast shewed thy people (all his people-Eph.1:4-5) hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. Thou hast given a banner (Jesus) to them that that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand (Jesus), and hear me.
Romans 5:6. For when we were yet without strength, in due time (the appointed time) Christ died for the ungodly.
Jesus Christ, the living God, stood in the gap for us. He took the penalty for sin of all he is saving from the foundation of the world (Eph.1:4-9).
Matthew 26:28. For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Isaiah 53:10-12. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Jesus stood between man and the wrath of God.
Romans 5:9. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. John 3:36. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Jesus is our rest.
Matthew 11:28-30. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek, and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
We have rest for our souls (Strong’s-372-intermission, recreation). God has interrupted our sinful life and re created us in the image of his Son, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:8. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 2Corinthians 5:17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; Behold, all things are become.
2Corinthians 3:15-18. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Our rest is in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Sabbath, and the Lord of it. He is the temple of the Lord in the corn field, in the world. We are members of his body, of his bones, of his flesh (Eph.5:30). Only one body (1Corin.12:12-27). He is the one who stood between God and man. God’s work of salvation is a finished work. We need to repent and cry out to God for forgiveness to receive it .It is a finished work (John 19:30), determined before the foundation of the world, and manifest for us about two thousand years ago.
1Peter 1:18-23. Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things (man’s religious service), as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed (man’s works or religion), but of incorruptible by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.
Psalm 92:1-2. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To show forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.
Jesus is rest for our souls.
Isaiah 40:31. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up as with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not feint.
Proverbs 4:20-23. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of Psalm 103:1-5.Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is in me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy deseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.
Jesus himself is the day of the Lord.
Isaiah 49:8-12. Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places. They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them. And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted. Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people (Gentile or Jew), and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
If ones reads Isaiah 11 carefully, one will see the second gathering is only in Jesus Christ, not in an ungodly, Christ- hating nation state in the middle east. All people need to repent and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation if they expect to be called the people of God, whether Jew or Gentile. It makes no difference. God is not a respecter of persons. Jesus said his yoke is easy, and his burden is light (Matt.11:30).
1John 5:3. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Before we were saved we had no real rest. We were constantly smitten of the devil. Doing the right thing was hard. Doing the wrong thing was easy. Catering to the flesh is always in conflict with the Spirit of God (see Galations 6:7-8). When Jesus came, that changed for all who believe on him with their heart.
Isaiah 10:24-27. Therefore saith (continually) the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt. For yet a little while and thee indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction. And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. And it shall come to pass in that day (when Jesus came), that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
We are no more yoked to Satan and sin. His yoke was destroy from off us by the powert of the Holy Ghost. We are now yoked to the Lord Jesus Christ, the living God, by the anointing of the Holy Ghost-“my yoke is easy”,(Matt.11:30).
John 11:25-26. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (we were dead in sins, when we are born again we are alive in Christ Jesus): And whosoever liveth and believeth (continually) in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (KJV) Other translations say something different in this verse. Check it out. KJV is the word of God.
Jesus is the day of salvation. Jesus is the day that the LORD hath made. It is a continual day.
Psalm 118:14-24. The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation (Strong’s 3444- Yeshuwah-Jesus). The voice of rejoicing and salvation (Jesus) is in the tabernacles (our body) of the righteous: the right hand (Jesus) of the LORD doeth valiantly. The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation (Jesus). The stone (Jesus) which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. V.25. Save now, I beseech thee (HOSANNA, Matt.21:9; John 12:13), O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. V.26.Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
Isaiah 60:1-9. (Many wise men came from the east to see the Birth of Jesus Christ their saviour, with all their animals). Verse 10. And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls (walls of salvation- Isaiah 26:1), and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee. V.11. Therefore thy gates shall be open continually (not just Sunday); they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
Isaiah 58:6-7. Is not this the fast I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke (Leviticus 16:29) ? Is it not deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him, and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
Isaiah 61:1-4. The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me(Luke 4:18-19); because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion(born again in God’s heavenly city), to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning (John 15:10-11), the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Verse 10); that they might be called trees of righteousness (Psalm 1:1-3), the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
When Jesus is truly our Lord and saviour, he is also our sabbath. Daily we are to witness for him, by our speaking, by how we work, and by how we walk, giving glory and honour, and power, and thanksgiving, to him in all that we do.
Isaiah 58:13-14. If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed the with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
We the saved Christian are the true church (called out ones), the only church. Man-made religious organisations are not ‘church’. It is an antichrist system, registered with the antichrist government of the world under United Nations law regardless of the country it is in. We the church, where ever we are, need to have fellowship with other true Christians, of which there do not seem to be many. We fellowship in open places or in private houses, or similar places where one can have a family gathering. Each fellowship is autonomous and accountable to God, not to a head office somewhere, controlled by a “senior pastor”. Our tithing and offering goes out to the poor and needy as stated in Isaiah 58:6-7; Deut.26:12-14, and many other scriptures throughout the old and new testament. If we only set one day aside to the Lord, make sure it is the whole day to the Lord. Do not turn it to religious service and a registered man—made organisation. That is no longer to the Lord, it is religious deception. Our fellowship with one another is a family affair. We break bread and eat. We talk with one another about the word of God, we might receive an exhortation from one who is better versed in the scriptures. Fellowship is a full two way conversation and Hebrew 3:13 calls on us to ‘exhort one another daily’, while Hebrew 10:25 is a reminder of that very same thing. The bible does not say ‘ go to church’ . It says ‘you are the church’, ‘you are the temple of God’. Simply fellowship together as often as you can with those who are true born again Christians who have a like mind in Jesus Christ.
Sunday is the first day of the week on the Roman calendar. It was never the sabbath day. The Jews had the sabbath day on a Saturday to compromise with the Romans when they came and changed ‘ the times and laws’- Daniel 7:25. Before then the sabbath that God ordained and sanctified was on the seventh day. Here is understanding then: God’s calendar started with the first month being the Passover month; see Exodus 12:1-7. God’s day was from evening to evening, that is at 6pm when the sun went down; see Exodus 12:18; Deut.16:1-6. The beginning of the month was determined by the New Moon, 1Samuel 20:5, 24-27; Psalm 81:3.
Let me give you an example:- The new moon in March 2013 is the 10th, from 6pm 10th(Sun.) to 6pm 11th(Mon.). The 7th day is the sabbath day (6pm, Sat.16th to 6pm, Sun.17th). The 14th day is a sabbath and the Passover from 6pm, (Sat.) 23rd to 6pm, (Sun.) 24th. If we celebrate the Passover feast it must be on God’s ordained days. They were never changed, but were fulfilled in Jesus. Then we would celebrate the remembrance of the crucifixion from 9am to 6pm on Sunday 24th. Jesus being the tomb three days and three nights, 6pm Sun., to 6pm Wed., the end of the 17th day of the month. Easter at the end of this week is a pagan Babylonian fertility rites religious ceremony which has nothing to do with Jesus Christ the living God.
Remember, the Passover is also the beginning of God’s calendar year. Considering that Jesus was born around the beginning of October 7BC , we must be in the year 2020 in God’s calendar. No man has the authority to change any of God’s ordained holy days. Seeing as they were fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the Word of God, they can never be changed. It is clear that ALL man’s religious doings is in rebellion against the word of God. We must repent of all religious activities and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ the living God for his forgiveness and mercy. We receive and accept him in our lives (John 1:12) and as empowered sons and daughters of God we seek to worship him in Spirit and Truth (John 4:20-24) through our lives daily.
Isaiah 66:22-23. For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. (Continual worship). Amen.
May the knowledge of God and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you always. Amen.
